Treatment Pursuit

Standard

This image was in my Facebook news feed this morning.

I have turned in my assessment forms for the eating disorder clinic. I have an intake appointment set up for next week, and a doctor appointment next week so my doctor can clear me for treatment. Things are moving forward. I just hope my insurance approves treatment and the clinic admits me. I need help. I can’t do this on my own anymore.

  1. Praying for you. I know how hard it is to struggle through something on your own. I hope that you are able to get into this program, and that it gives you the help you need to overcome this disease. You are strong!! Never forget that it takes great strength to ask for help!

  2. I am praying for you. You have taken such a very hard and brave step. You are a really good person. I really hope that when you go for your appointment, the clinician / doctor you see will be caring and empathetic and will recognise how much you need help and how long and hard you are fighting. You really deserve help and you really deserve and need someone beside you and supporting you to be able to get better. It is too much to do on your own. I know how very hard it is to ask for help or speak to anyone about your eating disorder – I know from my own experiences of anorexia and bulimia.
I am so sorry to read in your earlier post that one of the clinics would not accept your insurance. You have done amazingly to persist with this other clinic in the face of that huge hurtful disappointment. Good thing that you are seeing your GP too, I think. They can look after your physical health as well as the clinic helping you in depth with the emotional and psychological hurt.
I live in the UK so we don’t have the same insurance system (unless we choose to opt for what we call “private” healthcare) but there are other problems with accessing treatment for eating disorders and other mental health issues (and indeed getting timely physical health treatment too), for example because of very long waiting times and insufficient resources in our NHS (National Health Service). I am very thankful that we do have it and that we can get to see at least a GP fairly regularly if we need to and I think we have it good in comparison to so many other countries, but there are problems.
I love the picture you posted too, I’m going to hold that one in mind. It reminds me of a quote I saw a while ago: “Don’t look back – you’re not going THAT way.” (I don’t know, sometimes it is helpful to look back analytically, but also we can only get well if we look forward at the goodness to come as well.)
There is a lot of good to come for you and you are good. I pray you get the help you need for the good to grow and grow.
    Ginny xx
